Scout

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026

Scout does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. There is no account and no sign-in. Nothing about you leaves your device.

What we don’t do

Checking a number

When you check a phone number in the app, the result is computed on your device from data bundled with the app. The numbers you check are not sent to us or to any third party.

Call blocking (Call Directory)

Scout provides iOS with a list of known scam numbers to block or label. This list is built on your device. Scout does not receive information about your incoming calls or who is calling you — iOS performs the blocking.

Spam-text filtering (optional, off by default)

If you turn on SMS filtering, iOS sends messages from senders who are not in your contacts to Scout’s on-device filter so it can move obvious scams to your Junk folder. This extension has no internet access: message content is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted or stored off your device. Messages from your contacts are never processed. You can turn this off at any time.

Permissions

Scout requests no runtime permissions (no Contacts, Microphone, Location, or Photos). Call blocking and SMS filtering are enabled by you in iOS Settings.

Children

Scout is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children.

Changes

If a future version adds a feature that would send data off your device (for example, a live online number-lookup service), we will update this policy and describe exactly what is sent before that feature is enabled.
